Soon 10 Circus establishments in France

Circus continues its expansion in the French market.

Circus Casino France, a company of the Gaming1 group (the gaming arm of the Ardent Group) kicked off 2020 with a further acceleration of its expansion strategy in France. The group has subsequently become a key player in the French land-based casino sector, listed among the top 8 active groups in France.

In the fourth quarter of 2019, Circus Casino France finalised the acquisition of the Allevard casino and its hotel. This brought the total number of establishments in the group to 5. As a reminder, Circus Casino France already owned Carnac, Briançon and Port-Leucate casinos. Earlier in the year, it had also opened its first gaming club in Paris: Club Circus.

The real boost came at the very end of 2019! Circus Casino France concluded a memorandum of understanding for the purchase of 50.05% of the capital of the Société Française de Casinos with two of the latter’s main shareholders, Frameliris and Foch Investissements. Once the parties have received the consent of the Minister of Interior, Circus Casino France will launch a simplified takeover bid for the remaining shares. Circus will then be the majority owner of SFC’s 4 casinos, namely Châtel-Guyon, Gruissan, Port-la-Nouvelle and Collioure.

Circus Casino France has also signed a memorandum of understanding for the acquisition of more than 60% of Vals-les-Bains casino. This establishment includes a casino, a bar, a 4-star hotel as well as a Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant run by chef Stéphane Polly.

2020 therefore looks extremely promising for Circus Casino France. As soon as these memorandums have the approval of the Ministry of Interior, Circus will own no less than 10 establishments in France. With over 500 members of staff in France and an expected turnover of 50 million euros, the brand will confirm its status as a major player in the French brick-and-mortar casino market.
